Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) have announced that Khazanah will acquire INCJ’s stake in Malaysian telecommunications infrastructure provider EDOTCO Group.

The duo said in a statement on last Friday that the strategic transaction is reflecting the strong relationship between Malaysia and Japan.

Khazanah values its partnership with INCJ since its entry in 2017 and appreciates the collaboration over the years, as INCJ reaches the end of its investment mandate.

This transaction reflects the shared commitment of Malaysia and Japan to fostering strategic partnerships.

It also reinforces Khazanah’s commitment to drive the domestic investment agenda in the digital infrastructure space, contributing to Malaysia’s economic growth.

Khazanah said it remains committed to EDOTCO’s growth and success, reaffirming confidence in its strong fundamentals and future potential.

Established in 2012, EDOTCO is a regional and integrated telecommunications infrastructure services company in Asia, providing end-to-end solutions in the tower services sector from tower leasing, colocations, build-to-suit, energy, transmission and operations and maintenance.

The firm operates and manages a regional portfolio of over 55,000 towers across Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos.

Khazanah is the sovereign wealth fund of Malaysia entrusted to deliver sustainable value for Malaysians.

In line with its long-term strategy of advancing Malaysia, The fund aims to deliver its purpose by investing in catalytic sectors, creating value through active stewardship, increasing its global presence, as well as building capacity and vibrant communities for the benefit of Malaysians.
