Grab Malaysia signs MoU with government agency MDEC to drive digitalization of MSMEs

Grab Malaysia said Wednesday that it will collaborate with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) through this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), as part of MDEC’s Business Digitalization Initiative to empower the digitalization of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Malaysia.

Grab Malaysia said it recognises the government’s holistic approach to fostering inclusive economic growth by driving digitalisation to empowering MSMEs.

As a homegrown platform, Grab is committed to leveraging technology to drive economic empowerment and inclusive growth for businesses not just in Malaysia, but also in the region, the company said.

In 2023 alone, more than 500,000 newly registered MSMEs across Southeast Asia gained access to consumers via the Grab platform.

In Malaysia, based on a recent study by EconWorks, merchant-partners on the platform contributed RM4.2 billion to the country’s GDP in 2023. To further empower businesses, the GrabMerchant app also provides merchant-partners with valuable insights into their customers and performance, enabling them to explore new ways to attract customers and make data-driven decisions to scale their businesses, the company said.
