Google Cloud appoints Hana Raja as Country Manager for Malaysia

Google Cloud has on Monday announced the appointment of Hana Raja as Country Manager of Google Cloud’s business in Malaysia.
The firm said in a statement that Hana will be responsible for leading local go-to-market strategy and operations for Google Cloud and Google Workspace, and collaborating with teams across Google to help organizations transform with enterprise-grade, AI-powered cloud technology.
She reports to Serene Sia, Country Director, Malaysia and Singapore, Google Cloud, who oversees Google Cloud’s enterprise, public sector, and corporate business segments in both countries.
Hana joins Google Cloud following leadership roles at Cisco and Bain & Company, bringing more than 16 years of experience advising and partnering with executive leadership teams of prominent organizations across financial services, retail, consumer packaged goods, healthcare, automotive, energy and utilities, and the public sector, defining their sustainable growth strategies and enhancing the customer experiences they deliver.
“Hana joins us at an exciting phase of Google Cloud’s growth in Malaysia,
“We’re not only investing deeply in local computing infrastructure like a sovereign cloud with Dagang NeXchange Berhad (DNeX), a Google data center, and a Google Cloud region to meet organizations’ diverse transformation requirements, we’re supporting large-scale initiatives like artificial intelligence (AI) at Work 2.0 with the Ministry of Digital and National AI Office (NAIO), Teraju AI Selangor with the State Government of Selangor, and the Gamuda AI Academy,” said Serene Sia, Country Director, Malaysia and Singapore, Google Cloud.
“With her rich vision, experience, industry network, and focus on people and culture, Hana will play an important role in advancing our growth journey in this key market,
“We are confident that her leadership will help more local organizations thrive in a digital economy that’s projected to be worth up to $70 billion by 2030,” she added.
Hana Raja, Country Manager, Malaysia, Google Cloud, said that Google Cloud has established itself as the trusted partner for data- and AI-powered innovation for Malaysian organizations, providing best-in-class infrastructure, platform services, industry solutions, and consultancy expertise to supercharge how they understand and act on critical information.
“We have strong ambitions for further growth in Malaysia and I look forward to continuing to expand our local team and partner ecosystem,
“Together, we can build on the company’s successes to date and increase the scope and scale of our collaborations with the government and businesses,” she added.
According to her, this will ultimately accelerate the firm’s delivery of next-generation digital services to better serve Malaysians and strengthen Malaysia’s position as a global technology hub.
According to the statement, organizations in Malaysia have been increasingly turning to Google Cloud to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.
These include enterprises like Bank Muamalat, Capital A, DNeX, Gamuda, Malaysia Airports, and Maxis; public sector organizations like the Ministry of Digital, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, the State Government of Selangor, NAIO, the National Digital Department (JDN), the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), and Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC); and startups like Asia Mobiliti, Carsome Group, and Mindvalley.
In May 2024, Google announced a $2 billion investment in a new Google data center and Google Cloud region in Malaysia, with construction of these facilities underway since October 2024 in Elmina Business Park, Selangor.
This is part of Google’s ongoing collaboration with the Government of Malaysia to bolster the country’s digital competitiveness and accelerate AI innovation.
Hana and Serene are part of Google Cloud’s Southeast Asia executive leadership team led by Mark Micallef, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, Google Cloud.
Other key executives in this team include Fanly Tanto, Country Director, Indonesia, Google Cloud; Annop Siritikul, Country Director, Thailand, Google Cloud; and Toan Nguyen Duc, Country Manager, Vietnam, Google Cloud.
