Ken Ruinard-USA TODAY Sports NFL preseason games air on the TV, grocery stores and coffee shops are filled with pumpkin flavored goodies, and, in what has become a recent tradition, I'm writing about Clemson's tight ends. While I'm the eternal Clemson-optimist and my tight end previews usually sound a lot like this guy is good, and let me tell you about these other guys that could also be really good," I really feel this tight end room has the potential to be one of the best group of weapons for the 2024 Clemson offense. First things first, let's look at TE #1, Jake Briningstool aka Bring your own Briningstool." If you follow me on twitter, you've definitely seen me punctuate a big Briningstool catch with that phrase because I am a man who loves to commit to a bit and run it into the ground. But in all seriousness, Brinny had his best season as a Tiger in 2023, but I think I speak for all of Clemson Nation when I saw we're waiting to see him take that last step toward being an elite tight end. His numbers were solid last year (5 TDs, 498 yards) and he really blossomed down the final stretch of the season as Clemson's offense finally started to gel. If Cade Klubnik made the strides this offseason that we keep hearing about and the wide receivers are really starting to look like the old WRU guys, then this opens up a tremendous opportunity for the veteran Brinny to be an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses. Jake Briningstool Josh Sapp had been taking notes from Jake Briningstool and Sage Ennis in order to keep the #Clemson TE room strong this season:I know I'm ready, just watching and learning from them. They really helped me in a lot of ways." I don't know how much we'll see Sapp featured week 1 against UGA, but I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on him throughout this season. Markus Dixon is a guy that has been getting some buzz during fall camp and is competing with Sapp for that TE2 spot. We've mostly seen the RS Freshman play special teams, so he is a relatively unknown commodity for fans. At his size (6'4" 240), he's got the makings of what you want https://www.arizonastatesportsshop.com  in a tight end. Olsen Patt-Henry also falls in this category. We've seen a bit more of what he can do at tight end (3 catches, 42 yards in 2023), but my excitement on him is about his size (6'3" 240). Patt-Henry and Dixon having bigger frames gives them that over Josh Sapp, but time will tell which of these three emerge as TE #2. Of course, another guy who's name will be in the running for that slot is freshman Christian Bentancur. Bentancur was a four-star prospect and consensus Top 125 player out of Lakemoore, IL. Bentancur has generated buzz during fall camp, and while ideally this year you'd like to see him play his four games and redshirt, if he's out performing the older tight ends, then don't be shocked to see him getting reps this year, but a redshirt could be in store otherwise.
