As the year of 2024 comes to an end, we sought insights from prominent figures across the Southeast Asian tech landscape. These leaders reflected on their triumphs throughout the year, sharing valuable perspectives on their achievements and the challenges they overcame. Furthermore, they unveiled their ambitious aspirations, meticulously outlined their strategic plans for 2025, and offered insightful predictions on the trajectory of the tech industry in the coming year.

We talked to Caesar Indra, President of Traveloka, to learn more about the company’s achievements in 2024, its plans and aspirations for 2025. Traveloka is Southeast Asia’s leading travel platform, empowering consumers to explore, book, and enjoy a wide range of travel products.

Founded in Indonesia in 2012, Traveloka has expanded its operations to Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and the Philippines.

1. How was Traveloka’s 2024?

2024 has been a year of steady growth and meaningful progress for us. We are expected to close the year with strong profitable growth, underscoring the resilience of our business and the strong recovery in travel demand.

While profitability provides a solid foundation, our primary focus remains on serving more customers and enriching our product offerings to meet the evolving needs of travelers across the region.

A key highlight of the year was our expansion into the Australian market, where we have already seen encouraging traction.

2. What are your predictions or aspirations for 2025? What is the outlook for 2025 for the travel industry in Southeast Asia?

2025 is shaping up to be an important year for the travel industry. Advancements in technology, particularly AI, are redefining how travelers plan and experience their journeys, offering both opportunities and challenges for the sector.

In Southeast Asia, we anticipate a continued upward trajectory for tourism, with strong domestic and international demand. Additionally, we see a growing awareness of the importance of sustainable travel.

Travelers are increasingly seeking meaningful, eco-conscious experiences, and the industry has an opportunity to foster responsible tourism practices that benefit both people and the planet.

3. What are Traveloka’s plans for 2025? What is the focus in the new year? Is there any expansion plan for Traveloka in terms of market expansion or introducing more services?

In 2025, we’ll continue to look for growth opportunities across APAC, leveraging technology to meet evolving customer needs and fostering partnerships that enhance the overall travel experience.

The APAC region holds immense potential, driven by a rapidly growing middle class and increasing demand for digital travel solutions.

To better understand these markets, we developed the APAC Travel Insights White Paper, drawing on insights from nearly 12,000 respondents across nine countries. The findings shed light on the diverse preferences and behaviors shaping the region’s travel landscape, reaffirming the importance of tailoring strategies to meet local needs.

Looking ahead, our priority remains on execution and localization—delivering on our commitments while continuing to meet the evolving needs of travellers throughout the region.
