Malaysian lender CIMB Bank Berhad has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Remedi Innovations Sdn. Bhd. to co-develop digital health and wellness solutions for health tech small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia.

This strategic partnership positions CIMB as both an ecosystem enabler and innovation partner, driving technology-led financial solutions across high-growth sectors, CIMB said in a statement on last Thursday.

Formed as part of CIMB’s Digital Labs Innovation Program, this is designed to embed financial services within the digital platforms used by SMEs.

The program underscores CIMB’s commitment to innovation-led growth by delivering practical, sector-specific financial solutions tailored to business needs within established ecosystems. that meet businesses’ needs within established ecosystems.

Remedi is a certified provider of electronic medical records (EMR) and digital health solutions which offers a cloud-based clinic management system that enables healthcare providers to optimize clinic operations and enhance patient care.

Through this collaboration, CIMB and Remedi will co-develop embedded financial solutions directly within Remedi’s digital infrastructure that is tailored to the needs of Remedi’s clients – which includes clinics, healthcare providers and pharmaceutical suppliers.

With the roll-out, the bank plans to on board more digital providers nationwide to accelerate the growth of the health-tech industry.

“At CIMB, we are reimagining how financial services can be delivered more seamlessly to SMEs by embedding them within the digital ecosystems they already operate,

“In line with this vision, we launched our Digital Labs Innovation Program, and we are pleased to welcome Remedi as our first partner,” said Lawrence Loh, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Group Commercial and Transaction Banking, CIMB Group.

According to him, healthcare is a high-potential growth sector in Malaysia, and the firm sees significant opportunity to support its digital transformation.

Through this partnership, he said the firm aims to help healthcare SMEs streamline operations, improve financial management and ultimately, focus on delivering better care.

“This collaboration reflects our commitment to offering practical, sector-specific solutions that help SMEs digitalize, scale sustainably and build long-term resilience,

“By embedding financial services into our partners’ platforms, we are bridging the digital adoption gap and accelerating innovation across the healthcare industry,” he added.

Together with the recent MoU with Pharmaniaga Berhad, this complements CIMB’s value-added financing for SMEs in the healthcare supply chain and reflects a holistic approach to supporting the sector through integrated, needs-based financial solutions.

“At Remedi, our true north has always been enhancing digital healthcare with innovations, putting healthcare providers’ convenience and patient healthcare first,

“This partnership perfectly embodies that vision by seamlessly integrating comprehensive financial services directly into our EMR platform,” said Dr. Khairul Faizi Khalid, Managing Director of Remedi Innovations.

According to him, by removing the complexity of managing separate financial and operational systems, the firm is enabling healthcare providers to focus entirely on what they do best – caring for their patients.

“This collaboration transforms how healthcare SMEs operate, offering them the convenience of streamlined procurement, payments, and business management tools within the ecosystem they already trust,

“Together with CIMB, we’re not just advancing digital transformation; we’re creating an integrated infrastructure that prioritizes both provider efficiency and patient care outcomes, ultimately strengthening Malaysia’s entire healthcare SME landscape,” he added.

With the partnership, CIMB said it will play an active role in developing banking optimization roadmaps to support the integration of both organisations’ ecosystems allowing seamless access to digital tools and embedded financial services.

Through this integration, it aims to enable healthcare businesses using Remedi’s platform to access CIMB’s solutions such as virtual cards to support supplier payments and procurement, along with a suite of financial services including transactional lending, merchant acquiring and virtual account services, directly within Remedi’s operating model.

These embedded capabilities will help healthcare SMEs improve operational efficiency, strengthen financial management and scale more effectively in a digital-first environment.

The collaboration will also extend the reach of Remedi’s digital solutions to healthcare SMEs within CIMB’s network, enhancing healthcare operators’ operational capabilities, digitize their services and accelerate their digital transformation.

By combining CIMB’s financial expertise with Remedi’s healthcare technology, the collaboration is set to empower the healthcare SME segment with tools and solutions that drive business growth while supporting patient care.
