Alipay+ to help Laver Cup drive fanbase growth and digital engagement in global sponsorship

Alipay+ this week became a global sponsor of the prestigious Laver Cup initiated by legendary tennis player Roger Federer. And also as an official payment partner, Alipay+ will leverage its extensive digital ecosystem that reaches 1.7 billion consumers to drive fanbase growth and engagement for the tournament.

Alipay+ joins other long-term strategic partners like Rolex, Mercedes-Benz and UBS to make the elite league of the tournament backers even more diversified. It is the first and only brand in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region to be a Global Sponsor of the Laver Cup.

Ant International, which operates Alipay+ as well as WorldFirst and Antom, as well as Ant Group’s Alipay will help the Laver Cup connect with fans in Asia Pacific, thanks to its network of digital payment partners. The partnership will extend through 2029.

We are looking forward to growing our fanbase in Asia while supporting Alipay+ with growth in their key markets,” said Steve Zacks, Laver Cup CEO in a statement

Ant International and Alipay+ are no strangers to partnering with prestigious sporting events globally. They have previously partnered UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany, and with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club in the UK, to drive digital engagement and financial inclusion for local businesses.

Alipay+, a unified global wallet gateway, connects 36 payment partners with over 1.7 billion user accounts, to over 100 million merchants. Consumers who use a digital wallet partnered with Alipay+ will be able to easily make cross-border transactions when purchasing from merchants who receive payments via the Alipay+ system.

Laver Cup San Francisco 2025 will take place at the Chase Center from Sept 19 to 21.
