The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has on Thursday announced the public launch of the IP360 Metaverse Platform, an initiative in digital innovation and cultural preservation.

In partnership with Ammobox Studios Sdn Bhd, this platform redefines how global audiences experience Malaysia’s rich heritage and creative prowess, MDEC said in a statement.

Currently in its minimum viable product (MVP) stage, the IP360 Metaverse Platform offers an interactive gateway into Malaysia’s 3D digital experiences for both local and international audiences.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and Pixel Streaming, it delivers visuals accessible via any web browser, eliminating the need for high-performance hardware.

The platform features two immersive experiences designed to captivate global audiences while celebrating Malaysia’s cultural heritage.

Firstly, the Virtual Theme Park which dives into interactive experiences featuring beloved Malaysian intellectual properties (IPs) like Ejen Ali and Didi and Friends.

From engaging games like “Find the Spy” to skill-building activities at the “Training Centre”, the theme park sets a new standard for digital entertainment.

Didi and Friends is tentatively set to premiere in the first quarter of 2025.

Secondly, the Digital Museum which explores Malaysia’s cultural legacy through artifact interactions, treasure hunt games, local language lessons, and holographic traditional dance performances.

The IP360 Metaverse Platform is a result of strategic collaborations with leading organizations, including Tourism Malaysia, ASWARA, Istana Budaya, and prominent Malaysian IP brands.

These partnerships reflect a shared vision of fostering innovation while amplifying Malaysia’s cultural assets globally.

“The launch of IP360 Metaverse Platform aligns with Malaysia’s national agenda to strengthen its creative digital industries,

“It leverages immersive technologies to create jobs and drive economic growth,” said Anuar Fariz Fadzil, Chief Executive Officer of MDEC.

He noted that by 2030, Malaysia aims to be recognized as a hub for high-quality, innovative digital content production.

This year, MDEC supported 38 companies and IP creators through its Metaverse Onboarding and Immersive IP Experiences Program, offering up to MYR 200,000 ($44,469) per project to encourage the exploration of metaverse opportunities.
