China-based data center firm EPG has announced the official groundbreaking of its second factory in Malaysia.

The firm said in a statement on Wednesday that this marks a further expansion and deepening of the firm’s presence in the Southeast Asian market, with its global strategy continuing to accelerate.

EPG’s facility covering 25.54 acres with an investment of MYR 360 million ($81.38 million) within Senai Airport City’s Phase 3 development, enhancing Johor’s digital infrastructure and innovation hub.

Lee Ting Han, representing the Johor State Government, emphasized the significance of EPG’s investment in Johor’s growth, aligning with Malaysia’s Industry 4.0 vision.

“With an investment of MYR 360 million ($81.38 million), the project is expected to enhance Johor’s manufacturing capabilities and reinforce its position as a hub for innovation, digital infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing in the ASEAN region,” he said.

Hasni Bin Mohammad, Johor State Economic and Investment Advisor, emphasized that the project will optimize Johor’s industrial structure and support high-quality economic development.

Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, pointed out that EPG’s technological innovations will inject new momentum into the relevant industrial chains in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, Alick Wan, Founder and Chairman of EPG Data Center Module Sdn. Bhd, said this expansion is a testament to the firm’s long-term commitment to delivering world
class solutions to data centers while supporting Malaysia’s ambitions to be a leader in digital infrastructure.

He stated that Malaysia is one of the core hubs in EPG’s global strategy, and the second factory will become an intelligent manufacturing base serving the Southeast Asian market, helping to drive the optimization and upgrading of relevant industrial chains.

At the same time, EPG’s production capacity and supply efficiency in overseas markets will see a significant improvement, thereby strengthening the company’s competitiveness in the global market, he added.

Gan Seng Keong, Chief Executive Officer of Senai Airport City, also highlighted the importance of EPG’s establishment, noting that it further solidifies Senai Airport City’s role as a premier destination for high-value investments in digital infrastructure and advanced manufacturing.

“With Senai Airport City’s strategic location, connectivity, and ready platform with infrastructure, we are confident that Senai Airport City will continue to play a pivotal
role in fostering innovation and attracting global technology leaders,” he said.

According to the statement, Senai Airport City 2,718 acres has rapidly evolved into a comprehensive ecosystem for artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, with prominent companies such as Wiwynn and Supermicro also establishing a presence in Senai Airport City.

This growing concentration of digital infrastructure companies makes Senai Airport City a critical hub for innovation and the creation of a thriving digital ecosystem in Johor.

EPG has also announced a special fund donation to support local talent development programs.

This groundbreaking event highlights the firm’s commitment to deepening its presence in the Malaysian market and sets a new benchmark for China–Malaysia economic and trade cooperation.

Driven by innovation, EPG said it will continue to grow in Malaysia.

With deep local collaboration, the firm seeks to promote the upgrading of the data center industrial chain in Southeast Asian, and implement the strategic vision of the “Smart Global Chain.”

EPG focuses on the research, development, manufacturing, and servicing of diesel generator sets and IDC & AIDC modular products for data centers.

The company has research and development (R&D) centers along with modern manufacturing in Iskandar Puteri Johor Bahru, Malaysia and Shanghai, China.

The firm operates companies and service centers in multiple locations, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Dubai, Spain, the United States, and China (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangsu, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Langfang), among others.
