F5, a global multi cloud application security and delivery company, has on Wednesday announced the expansion of its global network with a new point of presence (PoP) site in Indonesia.

The firm said in a statement that as Indonesian businesses accelerate their digital transformation in the artificial intelligence (AI) era, AI-driven applications demand even lower latency and higher efficiency to process vast amounts of data
in real time.

Global management consulting firm Kearney forecasts that AI will contribute $366 billion to Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030, underscoring its transformative potential for the nation’s economy.

It is noted that AI development has been carried out in various sectors such as logistics, human resources, education, and cybersecurity.

As Indonesian companies embrace AI to drive innovation, this new local PoP will provide the scalability, security, and efficiency needed to secure applications, AI applications and APIs and maintain competitiveness in the AI era.

“By leveraging the new PoP, customers in Indonesia can now ensure data sovereignty, meet regulatory requirements, and enhance their digital services to remain competitive,

“The PoP is a strategic move that reflects our commitment to supporting Indonesia’s rapid AI growth by delivering cost-effective data and cloud services, streamlining app and API security, and optimizing network connectivity, all of which are essential for driving innovation and staying competitive in the digital era,” said Adam Judd, Senior Vice President of APCJ, F5.

Surung Sinamo, Country Manager for Indonesia, F5, said that with Indonesia’s digital ecosystem spanning multiple networks and cloud environments, the PoP addresses the unique challenges of multi cloud networking by enabling seamless connectivity, optimization, and security across diverse infrastructures.

“The centralized console provides customers with a straightforward and cost-effective way to enable the services they need,

“In addition, the PoP will also play a pivotal role in democratizing security throughout Indonesia’s rapidly growing, and increasingly threatened, digital landscape,” he added.

This launch follows a recent report from the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), which found over 403 million anomalous traffic events in 2023.

This included more than one million ransomware related activities.

According to the National Cyber Security Index (NCSI), Indonesia currently ranks 49th out of 176 countries.

It is noted that this new point of presence in Indonesia also reinforces F5’s commitment in helping organizations navigate the complexities of modern digital infrastructure.

By delivering advanced security, optimized connectivity, lower latency and AI-ready compliant capabilities, F5 enables businesses to scale securely, enhance performance, and meet evolving regulatory requirements, said the statement.
