Vietnam’s OnPoint acquires Thailand’s CREA to strengthen e-commerce leadership in Southeast Asia

OnPoint, a Vietnam-based E-commerce enabler, has on Wednesday officially announced its acquisition of CREA, a Thailand-based e-commerce enabler, to strengthen its e-commerce leadership in Southeast Asia.

OnPoint said in a statement that this strategic partnership combines two industry powerhouses, creating a best-in-class ecosystem of solutions that will help global and regional brands thrive in Southeast Asia’s dynamic and fast-evolving digital landscape.

Together, OnPoint and CREA serve more than 250 brands, backed by a robust workforce of 600+ in-house employees and more than 1,000 outsourced personnel specializing in warehousing, livestreaming, and end-to-end e-commerce operations.

According to the statement, OnPoint and CREA stand out as leading forces in Southeast Asia’s e-commerce and social commerce ecosystem, renowned for their robust comprehensive e-commerce solutions.

Their commercial and marketing solutions incorporate advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-driven tools designed for content creation, livestreaming, and tailored consumer engagement, reflecting a strong commitment to leveraging technology for enhanced operational efficiency, shopper engagement, and customer experiences.

Both companies are part of a selected group of enablers known for their financial stability, profitability, and scalability; with Onpoint backed by SeaTown Private Capital Master Fund, a private equity fund managed by SeaTown Holdings International Pte. Ltd.

SeaTown is a leading Asia-focused alternative investment firm owned by Seviora Holdings, Temasek’s asset management group.

It is noted that from 2024 to 2030, Southeast Asia’s e-commerce market is poised for rapid expansion, with the region’s gross merchandise value (GMV) projected to grow significantly.

The region’s e-commerce is expected to reach $370 billion GMV by 2030 under favorable conditions, according to the e-Conomy SEA 2024 Report by Bain & Company, Temasek, and Google.

Founded in 2017, OnPoint provides a one-stop solution that enables consumer brands to accelerate their online growth on multiple channels, including e-commerce marketplaces, social media platforms, and brand-owned websites.

The firm’s capabilities encompass all aspects of the e-commerce value chain ranging from the set-up and operations of a brand online store, to managing digital marketing campaigns, customer services, and livestreaming services.

After a successful Series B round in 2022 with a total investment of up to USD 50 million, the company focused on improving its omni-channel marketing and sales solutions to better serve brands and consumers.
